e-Tag Recognition and Technical Verification Trial started in April 2004
e-Tag Recognition and Technical Verification Trial started in April 2004 where the examination of the recognition rate of e-Tag(RFID airline baggage tag) traveling on a baggage belt conveyor was performed.
e-Tag is issued at the check-in counter and is attached to the bag. Bags are read by the RFID antennas (13.56MHz MODE1 and MODE2) installed in the Baggage Handling Systems (BHS) at Narita and international destination airports and the recognition rate of the e-tag is verified.
200,000 is the targeted goal for the number of e-tags read with the RFID antennas.
The process of check-in with the tagging of baggage with the e-tag is no different with the existing passenger check-in process.
