Purpose

Contribute to the improvement of service levels for the international air transportation industry by reviewing the use of RFID technology applications required to achieve “ontime” together with improvements in safety and economical efficiency for the air transportation industry as described in ASTREC’s goal, through research and development activities in RFID elemental technologies by ASTREC.

Planned Activity


1) Review efficiency improvements in the airport operation resulting from the use of RFID.
2) Review business model simplification resulting from the use of RFID.

  • Research expectations of RFID application by airports (Narita, Kansai, Centrair).
  • Review RFID business model at airports.


Future Plans

(1) Conduct on-site interviews to research airport requirements.
(2) Extract issues and review feasibility of RFID technical applications
(3) Review business model and trial plan
